Craniosacral therapy

Stacey Schwarz LMT, NCBTMB, B.A., A.A.S

I am a licensed massage therapist (LMT) accredited by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB), who also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Arts and an Associates degree in applied science.

I have always been fascinated by the vivid, beautiful ways in which human beings are capable of moving.  From and early age, I was an ardent student of dance, water ballet, body surfing . . . if it involved motion, rhythm or the polarities of levity and gravity, I was there.  Eventually I became a professional dancer and dance instructor.  But the activity itself wasn’t enough.  I needed to understand the movement . . . discover how our physical and energetic bodies work, and ultimately (after a foot injury sidelined me) what we can do to heal them when they stop working.

My explorations let me to a succession of artistic and therapeutic movement trainings in Eurythmy, Spacial Dynamics/Bothmer Gymnastics, early developmental movement remediation, and eastern and western medical massage with an emphasis in Shiatsu.  Along the way I awoke to a number of things, including the power of thought, the profound impact that individual actions have on our collective reality, and ultimately, that the core of dynamic movement was, strangely enough, stillness, wherein lies our greatest healing potential.

After beginning training in the Upledger approach to Craniosacral therapy, I was let to the work of Charles Ridley, the creator of Biodynamic Cranial Touch, and Stillness Touch.  Applying this work in schools, wellness centers, nursing homes, medical offices and my own private practice with people of all ages, I discovered the kinship between stillness and listening.  I use my hands to listen to the body of a client, in order to be guided by the body itself.

Which brings me to Cocoon Craniosacral, in which a safe transformative space is created through still, listening presence... wherein calm, gentle, contacts and fluid energetic/structural adjustments are made in listening harmony with the innate healing wisdom of the human body.
